Sonoma, CA Day 1

A couple years ago we planned on taking a wine country vacation in Sonoma or Napa. We finally put the details together about 6 months ago and are now on the trip. Ab's family flew in from IA and had to go through Chicago on the way. Of course they had a delay so Ab and I got into Sacramento two and a half hours early. 15 games of Rummy later, they arrived.

We had some luggage to haul! Luckily there was a Home Depot on the way so we could buy some straps to tie some of it to the roof.

It was about a two hour drive to the Sonoma house we rented. Beautiful country. We settled into the house, did a little grocery shopping and went out to dinner in Sonoma. We had a great dinner at The Eldorado Kitchen. I had the gazpacho soup and beef tenderloin. Both were delicious.
Our server gave us some suggestions on wineries to visit and the name of a person who could potentially take us to some off the beaten path wineries.
The town of Sonoma is very beautiful. We can't wait to explore the surrounding area!
