Sketchy??

We have a winner in the caption contest. After much deliberation, I've decided that Brian wins delicious Dales Pale Ale for:
"Allrighty, bros, we are almost ready to rock this golf course, but first, let's run through the pre-golfrock douchebag checklist: 4 different colored douchebag helmets? Check. 4 different douchebag shirts with big stupid douchebag logos? Check. Trendy yet douchey brand new sneaks? Check. One designated person of color with afro to prove ethnicity wearing a helmet at a jaunty angle and a bandana inexplicably tied to an ankle? Check. One douchebag playing the golf club lefty just like that one Beatle? Check. Okay boys, we're ready, so let's rock this course! "Ladies and Gentlemen of the Pinewoods Country Club, please put your hands together and welcome... the Douchebags!""

Don't worry kids, there will be another contest soon enough....

So I've been thinking a lot (I know scary!) about a project for my motorcycle. Last year I picked up Mountain Biking again and didn't ride my moto much as a result. Most people think that you have choose between the two. Au contraire mon frere. I've figured out a way to take my mountain bike on my motorcycle. Sketchy? I don't think so. But you be the judge:

I used a Rockymounts fork mount on a BestRest pillon plate with part of a yakima tandem bike rack. The whole thing is tied into the frame of the motorcycle so it's SOLID! I just finished it this evening so I haven't had a chance to take it on a test ride but I know it will hold up just fine. So chime in folks, what do you think? Sketchy or not sketchy.....

Trashy magazines

This morning I read part of the new issue of Men's Health. They should really call this magazine "ROCK HARD ABS" because just about every issue has at least two articles of how to make your stomach into a six pack xylophone. But I must admit that it is my trashy reading of the month. This is where I get great information about:
-"healthier" fast food options
-how to make a "nice dinner" out of three canned food items
-Jimmy the Bar tender advice. The stupid questions always make me feel better about myself.
-Sex advice. That's right! What foods turn her on. What not to say if you "want to get some." and best of all "How to drive her Wild!"
-Rediculous strength workouts that most humans couldn't possibly pull off.
-and a whole lot of other useless stuff

While flipping through the magazine I came across this ad:
WTF?? What in the hell are these guys supposed to be doing? Helmets and air guitar golf clubs? Ads like this make "Americans" look pethetically stupid. I think the caption should be... "Dudes, we should so rock out with our clubs in the middle of the driving range" "Yeah Biff, that would be so rad." Anybody got a better caption? Whoever has the best caption gets a six pack Dales....

Spring time is here

I'm sure that we'll get at least one more nasty snow storm but it sure felt like summer outside yesterday. Yep, it was Tuesday and I got out with the Redstone Crew for a ride. Man, I am pathetically out of shape. Being the last rider on the climbs is not cool but I haven't been on my bike much this year either. We did a loop at Hall from the Antelope side and then a whole bunch of Lyons ghetto single track by headlamp after. Good times!

It's getting lighter earlier so I should be able to make some pre-work rides soon. That ought to help my fitness level.

I'm gonna miss the snow...

I've been busier than a one legged man playing Dance Dance Revolution:

Work has been crazy but at least I've been able to go snow riding three weekends in a row. To make things even better, the conditions have been stellar. Two weekends ago Dave and Michelle came out from Iowa with some friends to snow slide in Colorado at Beaver Creek for a long weekend:
We had a crew of 5 of us tearing up the corduroy goodness of Beaver Creek.

Kurt's Rasta helmet cover made him go at least 20% faster.

Ab showing how it's done.

Ab and Michelle before a run down Larkspur.

We skied two days with 15 runs the first day and 17 runs the next. I'm pretty sure I wore the Iowegians out. Going bell to bell in Colorado is a lot different than going the whole day at Sundown Mountain. Although Sundown does claim to be like a Colorado resort.

Another work week and I was off on a Friday again. This time it was for work though. One of our customers had an event up at Winter Park so Beau and I had to go. The best part is that they got over 16 inches of fresh snow over night:

It seemed a lot deeper than 16 inches in the trees.

Beau Rockin' it.
We got back to the back side of the Parsen bowl pretty quickly and made two runs before most people got back there.
Yep. It was that good.

I hadn't been to Winter Park in about 10 years but it was just like I remember it. Really Flat:Click on the map. I've detailed the most sucky areas for snowboarders on Winter Park. Notice how you can't get anywhere without hitting at least one flatter than a dog turd run over by a tractor tire area. I think I'll keep my five mountain pass, thank you!

Even with the flat suckiness to get to the runs, it was a pretty epic day.

On the way back Beau dropped me off in Idaho Springs to hitch a ride with Ab up to Avon. It was pure nastiness on the way through Frisco. There must have been 50 cars in this pile up with a gravel truck turned over, jackknifed horse trailer and several cars smashed or upside down in the ditch. We made it safely and had a great dinner at the Minturn Saloon. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend it!

The snow at Beaver Creek was great on Saturday with plenty of Pow still to be tracked up. Unfortunately I forgot my camera. Trust me, lots of sun and plenty of snow. It was beautiful.

Hopefully I get a couple more days in this season but it's not looking promising.

Looks like I get to install a new kitchen faucet tonight instead of riding my bike. Good times.

Flying Dynamic Duo, Utah Chapter

I guess Utah was waiting for us:

Too bad the snow wasn't:

It's hard to tell in the crap video from my phone but the snow at Canyons resort was the consistency of frozen mash potatoes. Not the champagne powder that UT is known for. Of course it snowed a foot the next when we were working.

On our way back to the car after plowing through crap snow, we witnessed the awesomeness of a PT cruiser with flames:

That's one way to express your mid life crisis but I think I'd go more this route:

Yeah, that's right. I'd go drag racing on a motorcycle with jets attached to it. Not sure why other than it would be really cool to go 191 mph in 1/4 mile and you could roast marshmallows in the flame. I'm sure my wife would enjoy it more than cruising around in a rad PT cruiser.

Speaking of Rad:

Gosh, from The Dynamic Duo to dancing with bikes. Pure awesomeness. Are you having a hard time following me today?

I'll leave you with some sweet horns and bass to get you through "hump day". John Brown's Body -- Heart and Soul:

My New Super Food

Usually I pick up something quick for lunch at one of the many fast food joints that surround my office. But in an effort to shrink my expanding waist line and get in better bike shape for the summer, I went to the super market and picked up some healthier options. When I scanned the organic aisle a came across an unfamilar product: Dried Goji Berries.

I didn't know what they were but damn did they look tasty (especially on an empty stomach!). So I picked up a bag and decided to do research after the fact. Here's what I found after getting back to the office:

"Wolfberries (Another name for Goji Berries) have long played important roles in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) where they are believed to enhance immune system function, improve eyesight, protect the liver, boost sperm production and improve circulation, among other effects."

So I got that going for me, which is nice.
