Holy Crap! Where did the summer go???

I can't believe that it's the end of August already and I haven't posted on my blog once this summer. I bet I lost all three of my readers. Anywhooo... What have I been up to? Well, between the new job (where I actually cover the work of about 6 people) and new baby, there really hasn't been a lot of time to jot down my musings on this here blog. That's not to say that I'm not having any fun, I'm just choosing to have the fun and not spend the time documenting it. Case in point: Yep, that's my fat ass riding some super smooth single track in Crested Butte last weekend. I ended up there while on a business trip (more of a damage control trip) visiting customers. Now I'm sure you're not going to feel very sorry for me travelling around Colorado slinging bags, pitching tents and runnin rags (selling camping equipment and gear)... 'cause I don't when I get to see views like this:

Independence Pass

And get to take super sweet shortcuts like this:
Ophir Pass

I gotta admit that Ophir pass was a bit sketchy but it did shave 30 minutes off my drive from Telluride to Durango.
We've done some family stuff this summer too. We all went down to the Folks Fest for a day in Lyons and we're planning a trip to Yellowstone in Sept. Hopefully we'll get some fishing in while we're there. More to come..... seriously I promise!

Steamboat Weekend

Every bachelor party should be a day out riding powder with a bunch of bros! We celebrated Beau's bachelor up in Avon on Friday drinking beer and playing cards. On Saturday, 12 of us headed over to Steamboat and rode a half day at the resort and then had an epic day on Sunday with Steamboat Powdercats:

I highly recommend Steamboat Powdercats. The are an A+ operation! We got at least 12 runs of untracked lines. I'll be using these guys again.

Good Luck?

I just received the following gift from my new sales manager:

Yep. That, my friends, is a lucky golden horseshoe attached to a leather backed frame. On the back it has this explanation:

Sorry for the blurry camera phone shot. It has a bunch of Chinese or Japanese characters followed by this in English:
"This horseshoe is the real one that a race horse had worn in the race track. As you know, there is a saying, "If you find a horseshoe, you will have a good luck." Like the superstition, we hope this genuine horseshoe will give you good luck and make your wish come true."

I am soooo hanging this up in my new museum exhibit office (more on this later)...

3 Days at the Beave

I had a last hurrah at Beaver Creek before I start work on Tuesday. Dave and Michelle (Ab's sister) brought their nephews Kc and Brandon out to Colorado to do some snowboarding. Being from Iowa, I didn't know how good they would be. My feeling was that they would be more on the novice side. Man was I wrong. They took everything I threw at them and more. I even tweaked my knee a bit trying to keep up. Here's some pics and vids of the three days:

I think they'll be back for more....
