More of FL

Thought I'd drop a few more pics of the FL trip:

Beau showing how it's done. I on the other hand hurt my right wrist. It's not broken but it hurts...luckily it wasn't caught on video!

More pics:

It was a nice relaxing trip. We'll probably come back for Spring break. Now back to CO. Hopefully there's enough snow to go skiing.

An FL kind of Thanksgiving

We got out of CO just in time:

We received several inches of snow the day we left for Florida and it's supposed to stay cold for a few days. In Florida we're enjoying 80 degree days and chilly 65 degree nights. It's rough!!! A few examples of how hard it's been:

We've been enjoying some beach time in between Thanksgiving dinner and the first annual B&C Caribbean feast. Good family, friends, food and times!!! We have a few more days before we have to go back to the "real" world....

Tuesday Night Miller Rock Ride

I got out of work in time to go on the Tuesday ride and finally got to test out my new light. It's brighter than a Solar Flare!!! 11 guys showed up for the ride....an unbelievable turnout for a night ride. We drove up to Raymond and rode a 4x4 trail up to Miller Rock. The weather was ideal; clear and in the 50's. Shitty for a coat salesman but I'll take it if I'm mountain biking. The climb is an excrutiating 800+ foot elevation gain in a very short distance (less than a mile?). At the top we cut down a single track and ended up on the Ceran St. Vrain Trail. This is a phenomenal mostly smooth winding single track that we took out and rode back. At night it was like going hyperspace in StarWars with all of the lights trailing through the forest....guess you had to be there. There was only one casualty during the ride, one of the guys hurt his wrist after going over the bars. I went over the bars once as well but somehow managed not to hurt myself. Afterwards we hit Oskar Blues for some food and beers....I didn't make it home until after midnight. Tuesday has become my favorite day of the week!!

Go Nuggz!

Went to the Nuggz game tonight. They slaughtered a tired Cavs team 122 - 110. It was a really fun game to watch. Iverson and Smith were unconscious!! Check out this monster dunk! Coolio played halftime. That's right, Coolio. Apparently, that's where two hit wonder rappers end up when their careers start wavering. Last season we were lucky enough to see Young MC. Who will make an appearance next? Vanilla Ice??

And then I had a fun weekend...

Friday after some long meetings, Ab and I were able to drop the kids off with my folks and go to a movie. The last movie we went to together was "RV" with Robin Williams. Not the greatest movie by any means. Probably not even worth a rental. This time we saw "American Gangster" with Denzil Washington and Russel Crowe. Eric and Gretch met us at Flat Irons. This is a great movie, I highly recommend! I'll leave the review up to Ebert and Roeper.

Wow. It's been a while but I finally got outside and had some fun. My buddy Jason and I got out for a ride on Saturday while Ab was running the Turkey Trot. (She ran sub 9 minute miles... AWESOME!!!) We hadn't hung out in a few weeks and it's getting down to the wire. He's moving to Japan indefinitely at the end of December. Man, its one thing when a friend moves to the other side of the states. It's a whole different game when they're moving to the other side of the earth! Jason and I have been through it thick and thin. As far as I'm concerned he's my brother. We had a great four hour ride up in the the National Forest:

Longs and Meeker in the background but you can't see them. It was a bit hazy.

Sweet single track.

Rippin'

Open your eyes! sketchy timer shot off a log...too bad I didn't take another!

I think Jason looks a lot smoother than me...

On the edge of not making it but I powered through.

This guy puts us to shame!

Sunday we started the day with some waffles (how else?!). Ab took Sage with her to go shopping and Arjen and I did some work outside. You know; picking up poop, pine needles and other assorted outside jobs. Afterwards we watched the Donkeys spank KC and ate grilled cheese. And in the afternoon we took the dogs for a nice walk.

I got a culinary hair up my ass and decided to make gourmet French Onion Soup based off an article I read while I was in Portland. It looks like it's going to be at least a week long process. Checkout the starting photos:
Building a base for the beef stock.
Four hours later on the stove top. Just need to roast the onions...probably next week.
Delicious Alaskan Salmon for Dinner.

Busy week ahead. Tuesday night ride maybe. Weekend ride definitely!

Finally, new tunes...

I've finally added some new tunes to the player on the right side of the page. Three new reggae tunes by Chuck Fenda, Stephen Marley and Ticklah. I've also added "Underdog" by Spoon (mentioned in my last post). Check it out!

A Long week

I'm flying home from a long week in Portland (writing this on my phone again). A good flight; no snorers, no loud talkers, no crying babies and I have an open seat next to me. Simple pleasures I guess. I'm listening to "Spoon" on my MP3 player. I think song 'The Underdog' is my new theme song after this week.

The mountains have a thin dusting of snow on them with clear blue skies as far as you can see. Sure wouldn't mind playing hooky from work and getting a ride in when I get home. The weather looks perfect and I could use some fresh air. There's a night ride tonight with the Redstone crew but I don't think my body will allow me to keep up... Just too exhausted and polluted with bad food. I need to get my body tuned up again without slowing down anyone. This weekend I ride for sure....
